CS295/361 WSN Applications Syllabus
Overview of Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) architecture, communications
protocols, and programming techniques. Survey of WSN applications,
emphasis on WSN applications development via course projects.
Protocols and Architectures for Wireless Sensor Networks, Holger Karl
and Andreas Willig, John Wiley & Sons, 2005.
Project Guidelines
Group projects are a significant component of this course. General
guidelines are as follows:
-
Groups are to be established early in the semester and
maintained throughout the course.
-
Groups will preferably have 3 to 5 members, but fewer are
allowable in special cases.
- All group members must make significant project
contributions. Students taking CS361 are expected to
assume leadership roles.
- Each group is responsible for two projects during the semester:
- A WSN-related technology tutorial, OR an
external WSN research project summary.
- A WSN application or technological improvement that
demonstrably runs on the UVM CS/EE Tmote Sky architecture.
- Groups will be responsible for project proposals, project
execution, and in-class project presentations.
- Class Participation: 10%
- First Project: 30%
- Second Project: 60%
Project grades will be based on propopals, execution, and presentation.
All group members will be assigned the same grade for their
projects.
Academic Integrity
- We rigorously enforce the University's policy and procedures on Code of Academic Integrity. At the first suspicion of violation of this code, the case will be immediately forwarded to the University Coordinator of Academic Integrity.
- ALL work is to be an individual effort,
UNLESS group work is explicitly allowed by the instructor.
- The instructor is available for outside help, during office hours,
by email, and by appointment.
- It is your responsibility to protect your own work.
- All work that is suspected to violate the Code of Academic Integrity will be referred directly to the Coordinator of Academic Integrity
in the Provost's Office.
- I recommend that you read UVM’s Code of Academic Integrity.
