Preparing A Book Proposal

Copyright © Springer-Verlag London Limited
In order to make a decision on whether to publish a book we need the
following information:
- A detailed draft list of contents, consisting of chapter headings
and a short paragraph about each chapter.
- A draft preface or introduction.
- An estimate of the book's length, in numbers of words.
- A description of why the book is being written and for whom.
- An explanation of how your book compares with possible competing
titles.
- Your CV.
- Affiliations for yourself and all co-authors, co-editors or
contributors.
- Any sample or draft material that is available.
- Anything else you think might help us in making a publishing
decision.
- An estimate of the date by which the final typescript could be
delivered to Springer.
Using this information the Springer Publishing Editor will seek
opinions from reviewers. Feedback from reviewers will be shared with
you.
Once the decision to publish has been made, a formal agreement will be
drawn up between yourself (and any co-authors or co-editors) and
Springer-Verlag London Limited, setting out terms and conditions and
the responsibilities of both sides.
